Scott Point by the Sea, Victoria BC
DELUX SEASIDE LIVING - VICTORIA BC
It is difficult to decide which view from Scott Point is the best. It may be from the master bedroom where you wake up to look out over your feet directly toward Juan de Fuca Strait and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains. You might, however, prefer the view from the sunroom where, ensconced in your black leather chair, you can again gaze toward the Strait and mountains while you sip your first coffee of the day. In the morning, you are likely to see eagles on their flight path from Discovery Island to their perch in Beacon Hill Park.
------------------------------------------
Scott Point includes a spacious foyer, living room, dining room, sun room, large eat-in kitchen, library/media room, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two offices, laundry room and two decks. Built in 1929 in California Mission Style, the home has preserved its original architecture and its inlaid wood floors and coved ceilings in the entry, living room and dining room. But the rest of the house has been renovated to exploit the 21st century and the glass and grandeur of the west coast. All you need to bring is your clothing and some groceries and you are at home.
------------------------------------------
Let us take you on a tour of the main floor. The front door opens into a charming Victorian foyer. Turn right into the living room with its picture windows, coved ceiling and a wood-burning fireplace. It is a cozy place to gather on the sofas and antique rockers. From the living room, walk through to the connected dining room with its dining table expandable to seat 12 and views south over the ocean; all suited to great dinner parties.
The dining room leads to the sunroom, where a sliding glass door provides access to the deck and views of sunrises and sunsets.
------------------------------------------
The kitchen with its granite countertops offers a wonderful opportunity to clean your veggies while gazing across the water to the Olympic Mountains. The appliances include a glass cook-top, built-in oven, microwave, Bosch dishwasher and side-by-side fridge/freezer dispensing ice and ice water. A huge collection of books lines the library’s walls. In addition, the library is home to a unique Vortex wood-burning fireplace, a television and other electronics, including VHS, CD, DVD players and a stereo sound system that can be fed to speakers in the library, sunroom or living room. The main floor is also home to a bedroom for two, flanked by a full bathroom with an oversized, jacuzzi tub ready to soothe tired muscles. The residence's walls are covered with original artwork collected from around the world, while the hardwood floors are highlighted by oriental rugs.
------------------------------------------
On the upper level, the private master suite with queen bed leads to a spacious deck looking out at Juan the Fuca Strait from which bird watching, and star and moon gazing are prime. A walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom with double sink and custom-built, walk-in shower with a seat, complete the master suite. A study, with built-in cherry desk, cabinets and file drawers, is conveniently located next to the master bedroom. The study has its own ocean view of Little Ross Bay to the northwest.
------------------------------------------
On the ground level, a full office with laptop hooked up to high-speed internet allows you to check your email. A printer and fax machine are also ready for use. Across from the office a third bedroom with trundle beds allows two more to sleep at Hollywood Point. Down the hall, a full bathroom offers privacy for this couple. At the end of the hall, a laundry room with washer, dryer and ironing board allows for a quick load if desired. In the utility room opposite the laundry, you can gather your laundry from the shoot that connects to the upper two floors. An upright freezer and the receptor for the built-in vacuum system that services all parts of the home are also housed here. Scott Point is ideal for entertaining. Wood for the living room's and library's fireplaces is stacked under the deck. Steaks and salmon gain gourmet quality on the barbeque located on the patio under the deck.
------------------------------------------
Nearby, Fairfield Plaza can supply you with just anything you might need for your stay. Thrifty's Supermarket, which is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm is known for its quality fresh foods, butcher shop and large selection of cheeses and organic vegetables. A pharmacy, post office, bakery, cleaners, hardware emporium, video store, Starbucks, pub; all of these are available after a mere five-minute walk.
------------------------------------------
Scott Point is located in one of most Victoria's desirable neighborhoods. You can drive to the historic city center and its activity-filled harbor in five-to-seven minutes, bike it in 10, or walk in about 30-35. The lively city center offers great dining, museums, movie theaters and outstanding shopping.
